Editor's note:  Jeffrey Abel wrote this piece for the Companion Guide/Workbook, and it is a wonderful introduction into this work and the power it can have in your life...Enjoy...        I suppose that this forward should start with a cute story about how I met Larry; But what is really more important to me here, is his work and how it can enhance the lives of each and every one of us. I can best begin this, I think, by telling you what I and many others have gained from his presence and his work.       Larry has always been driven to know the “what” of everything and most importantly what drives us to react as we do and why we do the things we do. His need to understand our behaviour and share his perspective with us has created a tool which helps us to develop our personal power. This, in time, became “The Core Paradigm” which gave him an understanding of what causes us to lose our connection to the world of possibility, joy and connection with ourselves. It is this framework, the Core Profile, first shared by Nikki Nemerouf and Larry Gneiting, which now allows all of us a unique experience in living our truth. Not merely an intellectual understanding of the behaviour patterns that cost us our joyful expression of life, but the key to actually taking that understanding into the realm of experience and the possibility of living lives of joy, power and self expression—from now on.       This work is the most accessible and effective life-skill tool that I have encountered to date. It opens our eyes to our reflexive reactions to unseen stimuli that results in our experiencing continued stress, frustration and negativity. It makes visible the invisible stimuli. It starts the discovery of what has effectively cost us our freedom and choice, often for our whole lives. We are offered a set of new tools and strategies that help us know when we have lost the way of our true selves AND how to regain that world of true expression and limitless possibility.       This work allows you to pierce the veil of how and why you are too often driven to continue to merely survive, moment by moment, encounter by encounter, perceived challenge by perceived challenge:  it restores the possibility of living, (sometimes for the first time in our adult lives). I’m not sure who coined the phrase ‘conscious evolution’, but it could have, and should have been expressly to describe this work. It is the clearest, fastest path there is to living consciously.       If you are busy saving your life, you never get to live it. It was Gloria Steinem who said “the absence of all risk is the absence of life.” Life after Survival is a primer for understanding how, why and when you have lost YOUR way in the face of life’s challenges; and how to get it back. For this and many other gifts I will be eternally grateful to Larry and this work.       Oh, the cute story:  I had spent many years and loads of money pursuing myself; my inner truth. I had attended dozens of workshops, worked with many coaches and teachers-some household names and had come a long ways; yet life was still not really working for me. As awake and clear as I might be in one moment, I would be the powerless victim of life the next with no clear way back to my joyful path. Finally, a coach I hired earned her fee by telling me, “There is only one man I know who can help you go further,” and she gave me Larry’s name—at which point I proceeded to avoid calling him. My reasoning was simple, “If I accessed him and my life became a miracle, what then?” My pain was difficult, but it was familiar and I knew I could “handle” it.  I put it off for a while, but in time I called and learned that there are only two things that trigger us: not getting what we want and, perhaps more significantly, getting what we want … I had found the courage to work with that man, Larry Gneiting. It is through his loving compassion and understanding that I live a life of miracle today…and when I don’t, I know exactly why and what to do to recapture it. Now, it is here in these books.       Do you feel you’ve spent long enough searching for the answers; or avoiding them?
